Burst Forth started while I was at University in 2005 (ish) when my incredibly talented older brother would hand me his camera and challenge me to take photos of him and my family while they played golf. The only rule was, don’t stay in the P mode! And that was truly the start of my love of capturing beautiful moments. 

Since then I have taken some official photography courses (not the golf course kind) and have wandered into various photography niches which keep this field so versatile and interesting. 

I also love the aspect of teaching these skills to individuals and groups who want to know how to take captivating photos so Burst Forth’s first manual was born and I travelled to a few places to teach people and also give real-life instructions on the basics of photography. 

I found myself taking documentary photos for non-profits, which allowed me to explore what it means to capture important moments in time. I love learning about people’s cultures and traditions, being invited into someone’s home and being trusted to capture their essence; this is such an honour and I approached this with a lot of respect.

I love landscape and nature photography because rarely would you get the same photograph twice and many times there is some effort involved in finding that fantastic photo.

With all that said, and how my journey has ebbed and flowed, I am excited to teach different ways to approach photography and provide tips and tricks to everyone who wants to improve and I’m excited to still keep learning.
